Best way to clamp muffler to exhaust pipe?

I had my exhaust cut off including converter. I just clamped on a generic muffler where my converter should be. It is a lot quieter but still pretty loud. I got a 2 inch muffler but the pipe coming from the engine is smaller and not really a set diameter as it gets smaller as it starts to curve up. So I clamped the crap out it. It is on there but leaks. I do not have access to a welder and I dont think any shop would do it for me since I dont have a converter. Any ideas on how to stop the leak?

The car is worth far less than it would cost to fix it right.

A small, non-franchise off the main road type shop might do the welding for you.
