Replacement Battery for Lawn Tractor?
Ok, I have a 14 HP Cub Cadet lawn tractor that is about 14 years old. The original battery in the thing finally gave up the ghost. I still have the original owner's manual and other materials. One fo the pamphlets indicates that the battery is 12 volts and has/had 275 amps of cold cranking power. I really don't want to spend the extra money on "genuine Cub Cadet" parts, as I know I will be paying extra for the name. I have located some replacement lawn tractor batteries at places like Lowes and Home Depot. Now my question is this. I found a battery with 275 amps of cold cranking power; they cost about $28. They ALSO have batteries that cost a bit more, but offer more in the way of cold cranking amps. Should I get the higher amp battery? Would it help or hurt the starting system of my Cub Cadet tractor? I just want the best in terms of amps, but don't want to do any damage. Let's talk amps!
A stronger battery will not harm your tractor, the main thing to look for when replacing batteries in lawn equipment is the size of the battery physically. If it will fit in the battery compartment then it will work. If you are going to be using your tractor in cold weather then it may help if you get the higher rated battery, but if you don't use it in cold weather then you are just throwing money away to get the higher rated battery. In addition to Lowe's and Home Depot, Wal-Mart also sells these batteries, I have been using them for years without any problems.

Like all good things, eventually these workhorse tractors would break down, but many farmers kept their Farmall Tractors going, part by part.

Today, many of the oldest tractors are in the hands of antique tractor collectors, although there are probably still some of them in existence and working on small family farms. Like many of the International Harvester brands of tractors, the Farmall tractor went through several model changes from its original prototype release in 1923. Through a combination of series, that evolved over a period of time, to perform additional duties, they would evolve from their original letter series to a "super series" that progressively demonstrated more tricks. This didn't daunt some of the die-hard Farmall fans that owned earlier series tractors, that were still in running condition and quite capable for what they needed.
It did, however, make it harder to find parts to keep them functioning and today there is still a demand for certain parts, for different series of the Farmall tractors. In the antique tractor collection market, Farmall tractor parts that are original to the tractors that are being restored to original equipment new can demand quite a high price, in some cases. I am a bit confused on what plow to get for my farmall h. It has no 3ph, just as it was originally. I understand that you normally need a plow with wheels in this case? I see a farmall plow for sale but it has no wheels. Am I supposed to put the wheels somewhere? I also see pictures of people plowing with other contraptions without wheels. Are wheels essential? Also, does my plow have to be exactly 2 14 inch furrows in order to get the wheel going in the previous lines groove?
